Women’s soccer team shuts out Hornets, 3-0

The Golden West women’s soccer team defeated Fullerton College by a final score of 3-0 at Fullerton’s home field on Friday, Sept. 14.

The Rustler’s started off with an early and encouraging goal scored by Candice Holt in the first 30 seconds of the game, and a minute later Letty Guerrero scored a goal. Daisy Gutierrez finalized the score in the beginning of the second half with a beautiful kick into the upper right hand corner.

Coach Raul Ruiz is very pleased with the way the girls are playing together. He says the players are taking the proper steps on the field to play at the correct pace and competition of the league. “The girls are playing for each other and together now.

“Thirteen out of 20 of the incoming freshman players are really maturing to a college level of soccer,” Ruiz said.

He said ouldn’t be more proud of his team’s developing chemistry and is delighted to see them progress further and further each game.

The Rustlers next hosts Norco College on Friday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m.
