The California Community College Student Affairs Association, or CCCSAA, will be holding the 30th annual Student Leadership Conference for approximately 500 student leaders and advisers in San Jose. The conference is an annual, three-day, fall event.

CCCSAA has been working within the California community college system for over 60 years, focusing on networking, student and professional development, and advocating for the field of student affairs and student leadership. Members of the CCCSAA have the opportunity to participate in two annual conferences, and are eligible to apply for professional membership scholarships worth up to $1,000 and regional student leadership scholarships worth up to $750.

This fall, 12 students from the Golden West College student council and student senate will be attending the conference where they will have the opportunity to participate in workshops that will help strengthen their leadership skills, interact with student council members from other California Community Colleges and listen to several keynote speakers.

“CCCSAA is a great experience where student leaders have the opportunity to learn skills they will use both as students and in their careers,” said Associated Students of Golden West College Vice President, Monica Dekany.

Student leaders that participate are encouraged to not only incorporate the new leadership skills they have received into their own student governments, but also to teach workshops on campus in order to help other students to become better leaders in school and in life.
