Club Rush begins today (Oct. 5) and with only two Inter-Club Council [ICC] meetings before the event, the word “rush” is a true description of the event: there’s very little time to prepare for what is Golden West College’s first big event to get students involved with campus activities.
The event, hosted by the ICC and the Associated Students of GWC, is scheduled from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the central quad.
Monica Dekany, Club Consultant and Chair of the ICC, who has been involved with Club Rush for three years, said it will give students an opportunity to see what is happening on campus, outside of the class room and promotes school spirit and student involvement.
Students are still able to join and or create new clubs throughout the entire school year.
With students constantly on the go and unable to receive information about the different clubs, Club Rush provides an opportunity for students to visit over 22 club booths on the same day, while simultaneously participating in different activities relating to that club’s unique contributions to the campus.
In addition to the different campus departments and clubs, Legoland and Universal Studios Hollywood will provide GWC students with a total of 33 different booths to visit.
The Future Entertainers club will be provide the entertainment during the day’s event, while faculty and staff will help with the BBQ that will be provided to students. Event is first come, first serve offering free food to students with a current college services sticker. Meals are $2 otherwise for staff and students.
