Candidates sought for student trustee position

Applications are available for the 2010- 2011 Coast District Student Trustee position and can be picked up in the Golden West College Student Activities office.

Applications are due in the Coast District Board of Trustees office in Costa Mesa by Friday, March 26 at 5 p.m..

All applicants must submit their application with a sealed copy of their transcripts and two letters of recommendation.

The Student Trustee serves a one-year term beginning June 1, and ending May 31.

The Board of Trustees make decisions on all issues regarding Coastline students such as education, tuition and campus facilities.

All applicants must be 18 years of age, have earned at least a 2.0 grade point average in the Coast Community College District, and may not be on academic probation or facing disciplinary actions of any kind.

The Coast District Student Trustee represents 60,000 students in the Coast Community College District that includes Golden West, Orange Coast and Coastline College.

According to the Secretary of the Board, Christian Teeter, “The student trustee also shares the district councils which consist of three student leaders from each of the colleges in the coast district.”

“The student trustee is also responsible for attending attorney chancellors cabinet meetings, and coordinates Lobby Day in Sacramento,” says Teeter.

Consideration is given to those with previous student leadership experience as they are highly sought after and encouraged to apply.
