Come get some free food and meet the candidates running for Associated Students of Golden West College council positions on Tuesday, April 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5p.m. to 6:30 p.m. outside of the Student Center.
Elections for the 2010 – 2011 Associated Student Council will take place April 20 through April 22. Ballots can be filled out at a polling location outside the student center from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
As a student at Golden West College, you are also a member of the Associated Students of Golden West College, known as ASGWC.
The Student Council is an elected body responsible for managing the affairs of the ASGWC. The elected positions consist of a President, Vice President, Club Consultant, Finance Commissioner, Public Relations Officer, Student Advocate, and Activities Commissioner.
The goal of the Student Council is to give a voice to all Golden West College students, enabling them to become an integral part of the college community.
The Student Council’s major responsibilities include appointing students as officers for campus-wide committees, participating in shared governance in the development of Golden West College policies and annual budget, adopting and overseeing the use of the annual ASGWC budget, allocating funds for new programs and projects and providing and administering a program of activities and services for students.
In addition to the Student Council there is a Student Senate consisting of five committees, expanding the opportunity for more students to become involved. The five committees are Broadcasting, Club West Entertainment and Activities, Finance, Publicity and Student Interest.
As representatives of the students, all members put their leadership skills to work.
Any student with a 2.0 GPA or above and enrolled in at least five units is eligible to join Student Senate, and if you have a 2.5 GPA or above you can be elected or appointed for a Student Council position.

How many people voted? 130ish?
So 99 out of a 100 people said we don’t care to vote…..
You really represent the voice of the student body.
