Top events in March for GWC

The month of March at Golden West College includes a wide variety of events such as Donor Day Blood Drive, a Battle of the Bands competition and a karaoke competition.

Each month the Student Activities office sponsors a Collection of Kindness activity.  The concept is simple.  If each person performs one simple act of kindness each month, and those efforts are coordinated, what a difference we all could make in the lives of those in need.

March’s Collection of Kindness theme is Soles 4 Souls & Socks.  New and slightly worn shoes and socks will be collected for the Souls4Soles, Inc., a non-profit organization that gives away these items to those in need worldwide.  The non-profit organization Soles4Souls, Inc. is a Nashville-based charity that has given away nearly 12 million pairs of shoes since 2005 to over 125 countries including Kenya, Thailand, and the United States.

The Student Activities office also sponsors a monthly meeting for Inter-Club Council.  Inter Club Council assists clubs in fund raising and publicity, and is responsible for coordinating and promoting club events on a cooperative basis.  Call (714) 895-8261 to reach the Student Activities office for more information on existing clubs and for guidelines on how to form a club.

March begins with the due date of March 1 for both Scholarship and Battle of the Bands applications followed by a voter registration drive March 4 – 6.  The deadline to submit ASGWC funding requests is March 5.  College Preview and Club Rush on March 7 is a day geared toward High School Seniors to learn about the educational opportunities at GWC, though all GWC students are welcome to attend.

The Inter-Club Council (ICC) meeting will be held on March 12.  Battle of the Bands competition will take place on March 13 with further details to be announced.  If you have written any poems or short stories that you think others might like to read, last day for submission for the Creative Writing and Poetry Contest is March 15.
