Danny Anaya out of El Modena High School may seem like your average college student, but he is someone very rare and hard to come by.
Anaya is a collegiate dual sport athlete. In the fall of 2011 he played soccer and was also the kicker for the Rustlers football team. “Playing both soccer and football is tough. I managed to work it out with the coaches talking it out,” Anaya said.
“I get home late every night, and have to hit the books with all my tests.” He has to kick around for football practice, and sometimes leaves early. On top of that he has classes, and has to practice soccer at the same time.
Anaya is one of the leading scorers for the soccer team with five goals, and one assist. “I’ve been able to score five goals for my team, because of teamwork, and the others not being selfish,” Anaya said.
Anaya, a freshman, finished his first season as a Rustler 8 of 11 on field goals tries and made 35 of 42 extra point attempts. He finished second on the team with a total of 59 points scored. “My dream is to be the kicker for the Dallas Cowboys,” said Anaya.
He knows it’ll be a tough road ahead of him to get this dream. NFL rookie Dan Bailey, formerly of Oklahoma State, is his favorite player, and he’s currently living Anaya’s dream as kicker for the Dallas Cowboys.
