GWC swimmers host, beat SAC, Cypress, RCC

The Rustlers women’s swimming and diving team won their first match of the season against Cypress, Riverside, and Santa Ana on Friday, Feb. 8 at home. They beat Riverside 147-131; they beat Santa Ana 217-32, and beat Cypress 197-74.

The Rustlers team A won the 200-yard medley relay with an overall time of 1:53.55 by the team consisting of: Margaret Dix, Sam Carpenter, Zeineb Kalfallah, and Lauren Vosseler. Team B placed in fifth with the swimmers being MacKenzie Bonk, Tarah Morton, Eleanor Cummings, and Eva Dulcich swam for a combined time of 2:05.26.

Melissa Bergesen, Kayla Crocco, and Ellen Hayami placed in first, fifth, and seventh place in the 200-yard individual medley. Brooke Roy placed second, Kellie Guerin placed fifth, and Elizabeth Montero placed eighth in the 50-yard freestyle.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Vosseler placed first, Dix placed fourth, and Crocco placed seventh. Bergersen, Carpenter, and Hayami placed first, third and sixth place in the race.

In the 200-yard freestyle Kalfallah contributed 26.71 points, Guerin contributed 28.91 points, and Tina Navarro contributed 32.21 points.

Roy placed second, Cummings placed third, and Chelsea Minton placed seventh in the 50-yard butterfly. Vossler, Roy, and Bonk all placed in the top eight in the 100-yard freestyle. Kalfallah won the 100-yard butterfly with a 1:00.31 time, Cummings placed third, and Minton placed ninth.
