Another successful Casino Night was enjoyed by all the Friday before last on Oct. 23 at Golden West College.

With semi formal dress requested, the Student Center was transformed into a gambling hall filled with blackjack tables, casino quality dealers, food and lots of fake money.

Casino night is a yearly function thrown by the ASGWC and Student Activities right before Homecoming, to allow students to have a break from the regular student activities and have fun.

“It was “lots of hard work… great turn out and great fun,” said Monica Dekaney, ICC co-chair and broadcasting chair.

Each $100 of play money could be purchased for $5. The money could then be converted into chips, thus enabled students to gamble and eventually exchange those chips for raffle tickets.

Many prizes for the raffle were donated by such places as Legoland, the GWC bookstore and Nixon’s Library and consisted of prizes such as tickets to Knott’s Berry Farm, Aquarium of the Pacific and the grand prize of a vacation stay at the Doubletree Guest Suites at Doheney Beach.

Organized by Paul Chalfant, Golden West College’s student body public relations officer, he said, “It was a success. It’s really about getting back to the students and expressing school spirit.

“We want school to be more than just classes,” he added.
