There is no need to travel far to enjoy an evening event of wine tasting when it is only a few miles away. Forty Vines & OC Custom Wine located in Anaheim, California had an unusual location, with an office on the outside and elegance on the inside.
Immediately, there was a friendly face as you walked in the door. For only $10 a person you get to try five different wines from their selection.
There are two different rooms that divide this place, the Red Room and the Barrel Room.
The Red Room has five intimate tables that surround a live musician, who played “Stir It Up,” by Bob Marley, acoustic style.
They offered a quaint selection of food items, with prices not going over $11. The Spring Chicken Sliders were very good, but small. The place filled up with a mellow type of crowd, as the night progressed.
Adjacent to the Red Room, is the Barrel Room where they age and produce all their wines. “Each barrel is made from oak tree and can contain up to 366 wine bottles,” staff member John said. With so much wine, it’s no wonder that this place also sells to different food companies.
Before each wine was poured the server would give a quick background on it. Wines like 2008 Napa Valley Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and 2009 Sangiovese, were on the wine tasting menu. The strongest wine of the night was 2007 Arroyo Grande Valley Crosswords Dessert Wine, that was 18 percent alcohol.
To end the night you are allowed to make your own combination wine with the help of staff members, including making a label to place on your wine bottle.
You can check www.occustomwine.com for any upcoming events they have with special live performances.
