Hidden in Campus Plaza in Irvine is Strickland’s Ice Cream; an ice cream parlor where they make homemade soft-served ice cream. It may seem far, but it’s honestly worth the trip; their ice cream won’t disappoint.
Strickland’s is one of the coolest ice cream parlors around in a weird way: they only serve four flavors a day. Vanilla and chocolate are served daily and the other two are a daily surprise. Their choices in flavors are not like most: green tea, red bean, butterscotch, lychee, and pumpkin are several odd ones to name a few.
Their website provides a calendar that shows the flavor of the day so you can schedule your next visit depending on the flavor of ice cream you wish to enjoy.
Strickland’s makes their soft-serve like no other: incredibly rich in flavor boasting a texture with just the right amount of creaminess. The owner, who is always seen at the parlor happily serving his customers, takes time to delicately make his ice cream with care. It’s the best ice cream imagined: not too sweet, not too tart.
Strickland’s also serves the infamous Dole Whip, a pineapple flavored soft-serve that is only known to be sold inside the Disneyland Park and Resort.
A craving for one of the magical kingdom’s most talked about desserts can easily be enjoyed for about $3; saving you the hassle of purchasing an overpriced ticket to Disneyland.
If you end up loving their ice cream so much, pint-sized cartons are available for take-out for $5.
