“The Ides of March” follows a naïve staffer, Stephan Meyers (Ryan Gosling), who learns along the way that the political world is not so clean cut, while working for a new Presidential candidate, Governor Mike Morris (George Clooney) who not only stars, but directs as well making this his fourth movie with directorial credits.

Clooney plays the Democratic nominee whose secrets that could cost him the election are discovered by Gosling’s character.
The timeliness of “The Ides of March” is significant given the current Presidential debates; one cannot help but think of recent political controversies (the John Edwards-scandal comes to mind) when watching this film.

For a political film, this reviewer found the film to have a quicker than normal pace. Things begin to heat up during scenes including Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Clooney.

“The Ides of March” is definitely worth a look for all moviegoers. Great story, amazing acting, and Clooney proves that he not only will shine in front of the camera, but also behind it.
