Living king is better off dead

“Long Live The King,” The Decemberists’ next album, is all over the place coincides with their recently released album, “The King Is Dead.”

However, the Dead King sounded lively, and this living one sounds dead. Here are a few points to show that The Decemberists are still bouncing back to great from flat.

Front man Colin Meloy hasn’t lost his songwriting talent with each song telling a story, even with his weak and over pitched voice.

“E.Watson,” their opening song, is the only track that seems as though it does follow through with its predecessor, with their traditional backing harmonies by Jenny Conlee, and the folk appeal standing strong.

The album as a whole lacks the vibes that keeps the band in the indie, folk, rock, and country genre.

The guitars are either dull or boring, with their pretend rock riffs that sound as though Chris Funk, lead guitarist, was born and raised in Texas.
